Evidence & audit trail

Evidence an inspector can trust, because no one can quietly edit it

Evidence uploaded to CLEX Legal is immutable, content-addressed and versioned, and is opened only through short-lived signed links. Every change is written to an append-only audit log in which each entry is chained to the one before it, so any tampering is detectable by verifying the chain.

What it does

How evidence & audit trail works

  1. 1

    Immutable, versioned evidence

A document is stored once, identified by its content, and never overwritten. A correction is a new version; the old one stays.

  2. 2

    Short-lived, signed links

Files are never exposed at a public address. Each download uses a link that is signed and expires.

  3. 3

    A hash-chained audit trail

Who did what, when, to which record and what changed — written in the same step as the change itself, and chained to the entry before it. One button verifies the chain.

  4. 4

    Reports you can hand over

Run the audit trail for any record type, change kind, person and date range, and download it for the auditor.

Questions

About evidence & audit trail

What is a tamper-evident audit trail?

It is a log written so that altering or deleting an entry can be detected afterwards. In CLEX Legal each entry carries a hash that includes the previous entry's hash, so changing any past entry breaks every link after it.

Can evidence be deleted?

Evidence is not edited or overwritten. A record can be made inactive, which is itself recorded, but the evidence and the history behind it remain.
