CLEX Legal

The product

One system for everything compliance touches

CLEX Legal is built from eight parts that share one set of records, one set of roles and one audit trail. Nothing is copied between tools, so nothing drifts.

Legislation library

CLEX Legal keeps a library of legislation written as plain compliance items, and an applicability check that compares each law with the facts about your organisation and every unit: its state, industry, type of organisation and conditions such as headcount. You adopt what applies, and the rest is set aside with a reason.

Obligations & calendar

Each compliance item you adopt is turned into dated obligations for every period it falls due — monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, yearly or when an event happens. Each has an owner, a maker and a checker, appears in a month-by-month list and a calendar, and reminds the people responsible before it slips.

Maker–checker approvals

CLEX Legal enforces the maker–checker principle: whoever submits an obligation, closes a month, raises an exception or prepares a contract cannot approve it. A second person reviews, approves or sends it back with a reason, and every step is written to the audit trail.

Evidence & audit trail

Evidence uploaded to CLEX Legal is immutable, content-addressed and versioned, and is opened only through short-lived signed links. Every change is written to an append-only audit log in which each entry is chained to the one before it, so any tampering is detectable by verifying the chain.

Notices, inspections & cases

CLEX Legal keeps the compliance events that are not routine filings in one Records register: notices received, inspections, incidents, licences and registrations, and litigation or adjudication cases. Each has its own page, notes with mentions and reminders, and links to related items and to the obligations it affects.

Contract register

The contract register holds every contract with its parties, dates, renewal and notice terms and the obligations inside it. Contracts are prepared by one person and approved by another, and renewal and notice dates surface as work before they pass.

Vendors & compliance firms

Vendor management in CLEX Legal covers onboarding and periodic due diligence, checklists, work orders, a scorecard and a clean exit. A compliance firm can be given a legislation, or only some of its items, and works inside the client's workspace under the same maker–checker rules.

Dashboard & penalty exposure

The compliance dashboard gives a single score built from delivery, licences and vendors, and slices it by organisation, unit, legislation and vendor. Penalty exposure shows the range an authority could levy on items not done, from minimum to maximum, so priorities follow consequence.

Built on a few firm rules

The controls are not optional settings

These hold for every workspace, whatever its plan or size, because compliance records are only worth something if they cannot be quietly changed.

  • Maker cannot be checker

Whoever prepares an item can never approve it, and whoever raises an exception can never decide it.

  • Published means fixed

A published version of a law never changes. An amendment is a new version beside it.

  • Evidence is never edited

Files are stored by their content and versioned. A correction is a new version, not an overwrite.

  • History is chained

Every change is written to an append-only audit trail in the same step as the change, each entry tied to the one before.
