## Start early

Most renewals need supporting documents that take weeks to get: a fire NOC, a stability certificate, a police verification. Begin at least 60 days before expiry.

## Tie it to a compliance item

Each licence here is renewed by an approved compliance item, so the renewal has an owner, a due date and evidence, and the new expiry date is set when it is approved.

## What to record

- The number, authority and issue date.
- The expiry, and how many days' notice your team needs.
- Where the physical copy is kept.

## If it lapses

Stop the affected activity until the authority confirms, and record the lapse as an incident. Operating on a lapsed licence is usually worse than the delay.

> This is working guidance for your team, not legal advice. Confirm the details against the current text of the law and your State's rules before you rely on them.

## Frequently asked questions

### How far ahead should I be reminded?

The default is 60 days, and you can set a different lead time for each licence.
